Wacky Engine

My son has a 2001 jeep grand Cherokee 4.7 and he had to replace the timing belt, guides and tensioners...things went good. the passenger tensioner malfunctioned causing a lot of chain slack and blew apart the left tensioner and broke a guide. We had to replace both tensioners and a guide, everything is back together and it started right up, ran great stalled when he tried to accel and now it wont start. It has spark and gas but will not start...any ideas? New starter, fully charged battery and new cam/crank sensors....PLEASE HELP

Did you verify that it did not jump timing and possibly kill a valve when this happened I would run a compression test and verify that it did not jump a tooth or more of timing.

Any check engine light codes? By the post i am assuming it cranks but does not start. Did you double check all the connections to sensors and coils?

yes, has full spark and just replaced the cam and crank sensor thinking that was the problem...it didn't stay running long enough to code anything and no engine light

Did you check the throttle body? I am just thinking of parts that moved when he hit the pedal

How about fuel pressure to the motor maybe a fuel pump went bad or maybe they fuse.
