Urgent! Im replacing con rod bearings, locating tang question!

im replacing all the connecting rod bearings in my 03 overland 4.7 ho, and i got all my parts from my local jeep dealer, now the bearings they gave me dont have the locating tang on them, but the ones that came outta my jeep did, are the non locating tang ones backwards compatible?? any help is greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't use them unless there was a Technical Service Bulletin that says they were changing to bearings without a locating tab for some reason. I just did bearings in a 99 using Sealed Power bearings and they had tabs.

Not sure if you have a factory service manual, but I just checked mine for you and it only shows them with tabs...

There are no TSB's for rod bearings in an 03 WJ. I would not stray from OEM. Those tangs keep the bearing in place.

thanks for the replies and checking for me, but i happened across an article online about the 4.7, and it seems they changed over to non tangs, not sure when they stopped using tangs from the factory, but in checking all the mopar parts places i can, it seems they all carry non tang as the replacement, and also checking the part number of the bearings the dealer gave me they are the right recommended replacements for all 4.7 ho's, no matter what years, so one question remains is that has anyone used the newer non tangs in a tang rod yet, just curious if anyone has had problems or issues in doing so, thanks

Well I had to go look into that, if not for my own curiosity. Rockauto has them with and without the locating tabs. That's good enough for me to believe it.
