The Ultimate Death Wobble Fix Thread (Phase 1)

Death Wobble seems to be a plague that we all fear and can't stand. There are a million threads all over the place about it and for someone who is suffering from it, you will probably spend a lifetime just reading about how to get rid of it.

I propose that we put together a thread that will give sufferers a head start. What I would like to do is have anyone and everyone who has EVER had death wobble, please post in here every last possible cause of death wobble. (I guess I'm really hoping there aren't more than 20 causes - you'll see why). Once we have a solid, comprehensive list of DW causes, I'll make a poll with the causes listed out. Then anyone who has solved DW, will "vote" on what it was that fixed it for them. The idea is that the most common causes/fixes will be visible in the poll and then new DW victims have a starting point and can go through the list in a "most likely" order and start eliminating variables...

What do you think?

Current List:

Tie Rod Ends
Track Bar Bushings
LCA Bushings
Tire Balance
Alignment
Tires Themselves
Power Steering

Awesome because I got it for the first time last night. Scary as ****! Taking it into HCP4x4 tomorrow so hopefully they can straighten it out. I'll post back with the results.

in order of how I experienced them. 1. Bad tre's 2. Bad track bar bushings 3. bad lower control arm bushings. 4. tire balance off. 5. Was my own noob mistake off using a drop pitman arm at 4in of lift without using a track bar drop bracket. Major bumpsteer leading to dw.

HAHA I remember when you had all your DW problems. It was just the DPA. Good times.

Most of the time its bad TREs in my cases.

Haha yes it was. All I can say is thanks to you and JF for the help. its crazy problems like dw that I can justify purchasing a membership for. I encourage anyone who hasn't bought a membership to get one to help support the cause.

It was bad tie rod ends that caused mine.

Kevin's hard track bar bushings helped out, but it was ultimately bad TREs.

Ok, list updated (see post 1). Any other causes you've experienced or heard of?

I have another question. How similar are ZJ suspensions to WJ's? Would it be better to post the DW (phase 2) thread in here or in the general GC forum?
