Transmission shifting issue

This only started happening recently. On a cold start everything works just fine.
After about 20 minutes of driving shifting up and down in the 1st/2nd gears becomes rough. When shifting up in those gears it requires about 2k to 2.5k to shift up and a little bump. shifting down makes a bump also but none of the other gears are doing this. the reverse works fine on normal 2wd and 4wd. 4wd is doing the exact same thing when it is in its lower gears and requires the high rpms and a bump.
Please help this is driving me nuts! Would a friction additive help at all?
