Transmission help?

98 grand Cherokee, have to shift manually and only goes from first to drive and first feels like second, when I take off it feels like it has no power, like I'm pulling a heavy trailer? I heard some stuff about the linkage, I could really use some help on this thank you

I had similar issues and after some research found the governor pressure sensor and governor pressure switch to be a common problem. Changed them last week and it's shifting perfect now! Can't guarantee it's your problem but it's not too much and it's an easy enough job worth trying. Hope this helps
