Tizzdizz's 03 Limited WJ - 4" and 32s

Just got my WJ. It's an '03 limited with the 4.7, quadradrive, and skid plates. I'm excited, can't wait to take it out there. I just have some boring stock pictures for now, but it's super comfy and I love the v8 power. The chrome wheels will take some getting used to, but oh well. I keep em clean though...

Looks good.

Very nice! When I see California vehicles it really makes me wish I didn't live where they freely spray the roads with salt and liquid salt:(.

looks good, you miss the XJ at all?

tizzdizz 02-08-2011 10:02 PM

Thanks. Parts of me definitely miss the simplicity and decreased weight of the XJ. My butt doesn't though, thanks to the heated seats. I love the creature features it has. Also, the 4.0 in the XJ was fun, peppy, and I loved the instant torque. Going from that to the V8, I didn't think it would be such a difference but I LOVE having that extra power. I didn't end up with the H.O. 4.7, but even with the powertech, that extra 45 or so horsepower seems to go a long way even in a much heavier Jeep.

I picked up some goodies for it. First is a set of 16" timberlines I got for $90 off craigslist.

I got those in order to be able to mount some Goodyear Fortera 265/70/16 tires. A buddy called and said his shop was going to toss them even though they still have more than half tread left. More than enough for me until I can afford some more knobby tires. They're not very aggressive, but who can complain for free?

In order to be able to run those tires, I ordered a Zone 4" kit, which will hopefully ship tomorrow if not Thursday. Hope it gets here fast!

I also kept my CB radio which will be installed this weekend.

Just FYI, my stock chrome wheels and tires will be for sale very soon!

JJAMISON_ 02-08-2011 10:17 PM

very nice Dub! and free tires is da bomb! I'd take them!

tizzdizz 02-12-2011 08:31 PM

I decided the free tires weren't really what I wanted, so I sold them. Today I got some 265/75/16 Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs mounted on my timberline wheels. I like the tires, and got a good deal on them locally.

They're not a mud terrain like I'm used to, but I feel the hybrid design matches the WJ better, with better road manners and a pretty aggressive, more all-purpose design.

I just wish they would fit on my stock suspension because I really have no place to store them in my apartment, and the lift wont be here til next week. My stock wheels and tires with 60%+ tread are for sale.

Aw come on dude! You parked next to those sawed off logs and didn't put a tire on one for mini stock flex photo op? I will forgive you only after you get your build under way and have the photos up.

tizzdizz 02-13-2011 01:24 AM

Haha I didn't even see those logs there. I was out in the middle of nowhere and it was right on someone's property so I didn't want to get shot with a salt gun!

JJAMISON_ 02-13-2011 10:14 AM

What i understand you are gonna love the Duratracs. I see a lot of them locally. one of the most aggressive all terrains I have ever seen.

Well, it took most of the day today, but SurfnSnow, FredR1980 and I got the lift installed. I owe you guys a nice fat dinner cuz that was a long day. :D

Anyway, on the drive home, there was a good amount of SNOW coming down and sticking in the Santa Cruz Mountains, which was pretty darn creepy. Would've been pretty if it wasn't dark and foggy out. And 33 degrees. And the first drive of a freshly lifted rig...

The drive home was fine, it feels OK but I have 2 distinct sounds coming from the front end that I need to look into tomorrow when it's light out. One I think may be a shock that's not completely tight, and the other I'm thinking may be something with the track bar. That noise happens when turning in parking lots, sounds like threads are slipping or something.... Hope it's nothing bad.

Well, on to the pictures. I will get better ones tomorrow, including a before and after shot.
