I replaced mine with EBC pads from Pep-boys. They leave very little brake dust, and the stopping power is pretty good.

Ja.....ja!

It's not Gudenteite unless you feel like you slightly strained an arm or shoulder muscle OR you feel the bolt/nut just barely begin to deform.

I don't think he has a web site, per se, just a business. Not sure though, since I'm still learning all this stuff lol.

I believe the way to do business with him is PM. Thats how I contacted him

I've just done a conversion from the Teves to the Akebono calipers on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I want to thank all the folks that contributed information here on JeepForum.com.

As for my contribution, I got the needed Akebona brake parts from AutoZone. They sell the rebuild Akebono calipers separate from the brackets. The calipers came with all the hardware needed except the bolts that mount the brackets to the swivel arms, so just use your old ones.

The cost comes down to:

Akebona caliper $45.99 each with $25 core
Akebona brackets $25 each with $4 core

Total comes out to $137.96 plus tax with core.

The great news was AutoZone accepted my Teves calipers as cores, so that saved a bit of money.

The brakes work great. These are the right brakes for this car. They grip very nicely.

My one regret is not get the new rotors as well. I was trying to go cheap and now have to replace them. My old ones are not good.

I hope this help.

Thanks.
Tony

I recognize this thread is dated. My 2002 has a build date of May 02 and curious if their is a VIN number when the change was made from Teves to Akebono calipers.

I checked mine but too rusty too really determine is they were black or silver...thx

Go back to page 1 and look at the pictures. They are very dissimilar in shape.

Finding the pictures of limited utility, went to Advanced and fondled both calipers. Quite a difference when looking at them versus seeing the pictures. Afterward, went home, pull the tire and looked, concluded my May 02 has the Akebonos. The pictures on page 1 show the two-piece Akebono bracket (caliper and bracket) versus the Teves (one huge integrated bracket calper assembly). When seen close up, the contrast is dramatic.

This may be a good place to inquire is anyone has has issues with bleeding the brakes after caliper swap?

Used to conventional brake bleeding with 4 to 5 lug mustang caliper/ brake conversion but I am new to ABS.

Thanks all.

You should have no issues as long as you don't allow the brake fluid reservoir to go too low and suck air into the ABS unit.

When bleeding the brakes it's best to do all four corners starting at furtherest away from abs unit then next furtherest and so on until all 4 are done.

Tip when changing calipers leave the cap on reservoir until your ready to bled. Also take this opportunity to refresh the brake fluid in system by giving extra pumps of the pedal and keep the reservoir topped up at all times while your bleeding the brakes.

I don't understand your reference to mustang brakes so can't comment on that,

My apologies, just referencing prior experience with caliper swaps. I am glad to hear that it's as easy as non ABS with just a little care. Thanks 4Tom.

well let me as a somewhat different question, i do like the black magic brake swap, and im thinking about doing it to my 04, but is there any advantage to getting drilled rotors? or is that what the black magic kit comes with? id prefer to sway away from slotted since ive been told the slotted just takes life off the pad by cutting off a small layer of pad every time you hit the brakes. also i do plan to do some wheeling with my jeep, i dont want to cause more issues for myself
