Will the WJ knuckles fit on this one? If I were to swap out both sides.

I don't think so. I think the hubs are different.

We cant even be certain what that axle came from. Who the hell knows what the po pulled parts from for that hackjob. Trust me, you are getting in way over your head with that thing. Sell it and cut your losses. Otherwise you will be dumping money into it left and right along with a huge headache everytime you find something the po frankenstiened onto that thing.

I understand. But I bought the jeep for 4900 bucks. So I don't mind throwing some money at it to make it right.
Where is the identification tags on the axle? All I have is a stamped front cover that says dana with some numbers under it.

Can you get us a full-on front shot of the axle? Might help identify it.
You may be looking at a trip to the junkyard for a front axle assembly.
Any chance you have contact info for the PO?

Definately need some better shots of it.
The front axle is a low pinion Dana 30 and it appears to have a leaf mount on the passenger side but it is on top of the axle tube and no jeep to my knowledge came with a spring over front. However, the cast control arm mount on top of the pumkin says the axle is from a Late model XJ, ZJ, or TJ. Some of your lift is from the altered coil buckets on the axle.
The rear axle appears to be a low pinion Dana 35, but I would need to see the diff cover the confirm. You are going to need to look at the axle and decide what mounts were cut off. If they were leaf spring mounts it is either a YJ (mounts on the underside of the axle) or an XJ (mounts on the top side of the axle). Otherwise you have a TJ or ZJ rear axle and you would have to hit someone else up for the differences between the two.
Really what do you want to do with this jeep? Do you just want to make it driveable or do you want to make it a dependable wheeling rig? Either way you need to swap both axles so you know what you have and you need to completely replace your steering. As far as vendors go that is really up to you, I use Rustys, Morris 4x4, Kolak, Go Treks, and Ballistic Fab.
One more thing, you are in Georgia and there are plenty of good jeepers there, you just have to find them.

ez, that's an interesting comment. I guess you have a shop do all your work?
OP... please post the shots head on of the axles. I suspect the PO snagged the original WJ pass knuckle for a crossover setup on something else. It might just be a simpler approach to find stock WJ axles at a junkyard and work from there. Plan on spending around 600 for the front with steering parts from a yard.
If it turns out you'll be swapping stock knuckles only onto what you have, be aware that you need the ball joints from the lowers; WJ outers use same upper ball joint but different lower ball (use the WJ ball joint with WJ outer Cs) . Also be aware the WJ hubs have a different bolt pattern but other than that are the same as the tj/zj, hub year matters as the rotors must match the year of the hubs. Likewise there is a spacing issue if you lose the WJ CV joint style axles from TJ style U-joint axles; both hubs and brake brackets would have to be spaced .230 outwards.

Switching to IRO's ZJ OTK steering would be the easiest , and what I would do in your situation .

Does the speedometer work?
Take as many pictures of the suspension as you can...I doubt anything about that jeep is safe or in proper working condition.

Why do you say that?
I do all my own work. But I also know what I got my self into when I bought a completely stock WJ. Getting some frankenstiened mess to deal with:
A - wouldnt be any fun because its not your build. Someone else built it and now you are just fixing it.
B - The whole thing could possibly be hacked together from steering to suspension, to drive train. Who knows what this guy did to the engine, transmission, transfer case, etc. Without knowing exactly what this guy did, its going to be tough to find parts that fit.Thats a headache I wouldnt want. That is why I built my own jeep. I know exactly what I have done to my jeep, so if something breaks, I know exactly what will fit.

wow....what else can one say
this thing may possibly be an insurance renovation rig. seller picked up a partially damaged WJ and then pieced together the suspension, drivetrain and god knows what else. how else can anyone explain the fact that it has axles beneath it in the fashion they are

It looks like a WJ front axle to me...just not a WJ knuckle. The coil buckets, SS mount, TB mount, sway bar mounts, and CV's all look WJ. I'm pretty sure the thing JTM1 thinks is a leaf spring mount is actually the place that the bumpstop hits.
