Swap assistance

Ok guys, I searched for some insight on the 247 to 242 swap, but I can't seem to find any similar problems that I am having. For starters the yoke, TC, front and rear drives shafts came out of a 98 4.0 ZJ, Mine is a 99 also 4.0. I have everything bolted in but my issue is with the shifting of the 4 wheel drive its self. I replaced the 247 shift bezel with the select trac one so I could get the correct reading on what mode I'm in. Problem 1 is when it's in 2wd it reads as 4 lo on the shifter (basically the exact opposite of what it should read) Problem #2 is my shifter cable going to the TC. It is touching the drive shaft when I tried to install it, so that would cause a huge problem. I moved the cable to the bottom hole in the bracket as every thread said to do BUT the actuator AND the cable its self have an eyelet so there isn't anything to connect the 2 together. I looked at the 247 and that actuator has a pin on it. So my question is what do I need to do to correct this? Am I able to bend the bracket enough to clear the drive shaft? should I head to the pull a part to try to find a different actuator to go on the case? I'm at a loss guys and I need some help from the experts.

For one the ZJ 242 doesn't just bolt right up to a WJ. It takes some modification as you have found and I believe there are some mechanical issues as well. The reason you haven't found any insight is because no one does that swap. Sorry I couldn't help.

So what would the difference in the cases be? It bolted up just fine, same 23 splines on the input shaft. The only issue I was having with the install is the shifter cable was interfering with the drive shaft.

I can't tell you for sure because I don't remember honestly. I thought about the ZJ swap but read up on it and it wasn't worth the effort.

I actually got it to work, I just need to adjust the linkage to take some slop out of the shifter, other than that it bolted up very easily.

The shift points lined up?

I ended up having to modify the bracket slightly enough to be moved closer to the transfer case. I put it all together today and took it for a test drive, it shifts almost like my wifes zj with the 242.
