Starter "M" terminal short circuit

Ive got an issue with an 04 Grand cherokee that is on its second starter in 3 days. Old one fried the M terminal and crapped out. Put in a new one and lasted a day, did the same thing. Took the starter apart where the wire for the M terminal goes in and its completely toast. Im at a loss for what can cause something like this. Battery tests good and have clean the terminals at the battery post. Any suggestions as to where to look?

Traced them back to the battery with no visual problems.

The wire in the starter that shorted is a ground wire. So somehow it would have to short to power. Im thinking this is just a stroke of bad luck. If it was an issue farther up in the system shorting to power, i should see signs of wires melting in other spots. I installed another starter and havent had an issue with it yet.

Update

Problem ended up coming from the ignition switch/lock cylinder. Something was getting stuck when turning the key to start it and it was keeping the key from fully turning back from the start position. Was causing multiple issues in the electrical system. Specifically with the radio and windshield wipers not working. Replaced both the switch and lock cylinder and problem solved.
