The RC kits are kinda like an ugly girlfriend. You don't really want your friends to see you with her, but she's better than nothing. Until all her joints start wearing out and you realize you need to drink to make her attractive, so you stop calling her and she shows up to your house at 3am and you've got a different kit all greased up in the garage and it gets awkward.
