I wonder if there is a grounding issue at play? I cannot get my driver's side mirror to stay in the correct position. It always resets by moving down.

Any other help here?

Any updates on this? I have tried the suggested method without success. I also replaced my mirror assembly (auto-dim went bad) without success.

Bad ground? Or something else?

To all:

I found that doing this once a week for a few weeks eventually fixed both mirrors.

Rarely, my passenger mirror will move slightly out of position, but a quick run with my hand cures it for weeks.

Driver's side has no issues whatsoever.

Moving the mirror by hand is easy and seems to have no affect at all on the drive.

I suggest moving the mirror in sort of a CW direction, then in CCW direction.

Try it a few times - lot cheaper and easier than repair or replacement.

Thanks--this works.

An old topic, but I found it while searching on web for a mirror memory problem, on a ZJ but I think it's the same.
In fact: the passenger side mirror does not keep the memory position, every time I unlock the doors it turns down. I first changed the complete mirror (it did not move on the left and on the right, I thought that it was the problem). No effect at all. I even tried to move it manually as suggested in the topic. I'm now planning to change the memory switch but I'm not sure it will work.
Any other suggestion? How can I disable the memory position in order to fix the mirror in the correct position?

I did this before I programmed the mirrors.

Ran them to the limits left- right, up-down. Then I did the mirror programming for key 1 and key 2.

It's been a few months and no issues.

Probably the same as the manual process above.

Nothing to do. I also opened the mirror motor: It seems to be ok!
Finally, I will be forced to disconnect memory switch.

Old topic but actual problem. I tried everything I read in this 3D and somewhere else. Finally I fixed the bad mirror.... I replaced it (bought one from a junkyard for a few euros). Now it works perfectly!
