Back home on vacation and my buddy who works on cars is also on vacation. Go figure.

Anywho, cut out all the rust. A fellow jeeper said I should leave the foam out... Any other suggestions on how to treat this before I get a new piece welded in?

Just hit it with primer to prevent further rusting.

I'd have sealed it with por15. Used it on my XJ when we repaired the floors. WOrked great.

weld it up and finish.

Then pull the black plastic trim on rocker and flood the rockers with Fluid film.

That's what I figured. Hit the inside with a small Dremel ball and get any more rust out and plaster it with 6 coats of primer.
