Rocker rust

Just bought an 03 Limited and noticed on the drivers side a hole in the rocker. Looking closer I see bubbled paint in a few spots. Odd thing is there appears to be some foam behind the whole rocker. Seem to be factory as this is the original sheet metal. Did the factory put some foam behind the rockers, seems like a dumb idea as it would hold moisture in.

Well then someone knowingly put it in there. Interesting.

Yup, and thats a bad place for it, probe around with an ice pick for soft spots, check with magnet also.

There is foam behind mine as well as others that i have seen who have cut out the rockers.

Its for NVH reduction (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) from the factory.

So I saw these on Ebay and wondered if anyone had used them. I think the drivers side will need most of it replaced, passenger side only has one spot.

Any thoughts on these rockers?

I'd really rather try and do the work myself, just wondering if those rockers are worth the purchase.
