Removing the rear seat head rests?

Okay... so short of using a Dremel tool with a cutting wheel, is there any way to remove the rear seat head rests? I use my Jeep for work and want to put a seat cover over the seat (the cover is not headrest friendly). I tried the little button that raises the headrests but they stop when they reach the top. I've pulled really hard, and nothing. Any ideas? Thanks!

There is one botton then a black latch at the base of the head rest which just folds the headrest forward. I checked the base of both sides and there is only one button. Hmmmm

mine on my 99 and 03 both pull all the way out. push the button where the headreast pole slides in and hold it in while you pull the headrest up and out. then pull the back seats up and forward, and you can fold the backrest section down and forward

It's a Jeep, it's not supposed to work right all the time.

Yeah.... they're not coming out. Very frustrating. Thank you all for your input. Guess I will have to figure something else out.

Yeah... I tried and tried. They don't come out. So I am going to Dremel them off--unless someone knows how to take the seat apart to release the latch that holds them in? Thanks!

They will come out but sometimes need a thump with something i found. I struggled to get one of mine off to fix the cover and i think i used a rolling pin or something similar to lever/thump it off.

In my WJ (limited -- leather seats) they do come off. There is a button to push in on both headrest poles. Took me a minute to find the second one, because it is small.

when you pull the head rest up you will see the notches in the post have a shoulder cut it to them.
the last one on the bottom doesn't its just a straight notch. you kind of need three hands to sometimes get them out!
one to hold the catch in while you rock the head rest from side to side and pull up all at the same time.

The clothe ones come off pretty easily. I leave mine out because they are kinda dorky looking being bigger than the front and all. They have little buttons that you just have to fiddle with it a little.
