Removed carpet for good

I will be putting Herculiner down this week. I already Herculined the rocker panels so i will continue that all the way up to the center console. I guess the rear seats wont have A/C/heater vents anymore because they are attached to the carpet. I hope I dont notice more drowning from the muffler turn down.

Took 5 hours, mostly cleaning time.

One day I will remove the rear carpet and Herculine the rest.

Can't wait to see the finshed pics.

Are you gonna put some plugs in those holes to slow down the water entry?

So you took out the carpet and now have a turndown under your jeep instead of a side/rear exit? I am betting a nice new set of noises will be heard in your future

Which holes? Unless you are talking about the holes you see from the drain plugs i removed..

Reminds me, I have to figure something out that will seal up the gap in the door seals on the bottom.

Also, I will be buying plenty of body caulk to finish my fender trimming job and to cover all holes and gaps I can on the floor.

Yea I am afraid I'll want to get a tailpipe when Im driving it again.

Where could I put a side pipe where the sliders or rocks wouldnt mess it up?

Nowhere...you can do a side exit behind the rear axle out the side of the bumper.

did you move all the wires and ebrake cable before you lined it or just went around them? how far up under the dash did you go? i realize this is old but i tore out my carpet last fall after my heater core blew up twice. I've been waiting for some nice weather to put some liner down.
thanks

I actually havent done it yet. In was in August (of 2008) when I was going to do it, but it got too cold outside to apply the Herc. It just hasnt come up yet on my prioritized list of things to do to the WJ.

But I planned on just going over the ebrake cable and wires.

I have a great solution as far as drain plugs go. I knocked out 4 of the metal drain plugs out of the floor, and I found a body plug somewhere else on the Jeep thats the same oval size. I can sell you a few for cheap if you want. If you look closely at the picture you can see where the plugs were.

And for the record, it may be next to impossible for my aunt and my grandma to hear me on the phone when Im driving on the highway in my Jeep, but IMO having no carpet isnt too loud. Even with a turndown, FM 50, mud tires, etc.

I take in at least a little puddle of water every time I go offroading.

Plus cleaning my Jeep has never been easier. All I do is pull some drain plugs and power wash everything.

so are you saying water is coming in the lower door seals or is it coming up thru the floor? how deep is the LITTLE puddle of water? i am asking because i am concerned that my really nice jeep that i liken to being my 4wd CADILLAC is going to get water in it now that i am wheelin regularly. my interior is perfect and i hope to keep it that way. is there something i dont realize? ron
