refurbished and or refurbishing batteries

So the time has come to replace the trusty battery in my jeep. From what I can tell the battery was purchased in 2001 I have been looking around for a replacement and came across refurbished batteries for half the cost of a new one. Has anyone used one of these? If so any feedback would be awesome. Also came across a few different ways to refurbish a battery myself. This involved very little effort and money. Simply 8oz. Of Epsom salt and everyday distilled water. Again has anyone tried this? Info? Ideas? Pure hatred for asking a stupid question? Preferably Not the last one but whatevs!

I wouldn't do it... If a battery failed b/c of an internal short no amount of epsom salt and distilled water will fix that. Even if it's not shorted out I still wouldn't trust it b/c I'm sure there is some build up between the plates that may lead to a short sooner than later.

Personally I wouldn't. It's refurbished because it originally failed. But if they are half price it's worth a shot I suppose. Doesn't hurt to try at least.

I've never had good luck with a refurbed battery. I worked at a car lot and the boss liked to buy refurbed batteries because they were cheap and would sometimes work long enough to get his "sold as is" cars off the lot if he sold them fast enough.

I got an "ECONO POWER" which are refurbished by Interstate Batteries ...works fine for me...and at $35 can't complain.
The cheapest compatible battery Walmart sold for the WJ is $80.

Proper batteries, backed by warranties, are ~$100. And you need to buy a new one.... how often again? I wouldn't cut costs on something as crucial as your car battery.

Decided to buy a new one. 12 years out of the original battery tells me that at just about any price a new one beats a refurb. Especially now that I live in the heat of Texas and travel back to the frozen mountains of Colorado

Bosch. I figure, if the everstart that was in there lasted as long as it did, than this Bosch will go until the zombie apocalypse and then some.

What kind of logic is that?

The battery that was in my vehicle lasted over 10 years so I switched brands cuz it'll last even longer.

Its my logic! And I like it that way! Actually I don't trust that a second everstart would do the same as the first. Plus the Bosch has a 5 year warranty and the ever start only had two
