Rear Axle Question

I am about to replace a bent rear axle on my '04 grand Cherokee ltd and I have a few questions before I start.

I want to make sure that when I go to the junkyard I will get the right part. It has been a long time since I have been, but how do I ensure I am getting the right axle. It seems that all of the research I have done so far pulls up a wide variety of different options. I know that the ratio is 3.73, is that all I need to look for? This is my first axle swap and everyone says its easy, I just don't want to mess it up since it is a major part.
