Radiator differences?

I'm pretty sure my jeep was just built to leak coolant. After replacing the heater core, hoses, water pump, and thermostat all on separate occasions, the radiator finally let go. My question is whether there are different thicknesses of radiators from the factory. Was there ever a heavy duty cooling option or something like that? All the replacement radiators I see on line are single row units, so I just wanted to make sure I'm ordering the correct radiator. I have a 2002 GC limited with the 4.7.

I "think" and Im sure Im wrong, but Im assuming there would be about 4 radiators, 2 for each engine and the difference being whether it has the tow package or not.. I believe the tow package adds a transmission cooler...

All engine types had one radiator for each. Tow package added a mechanical fan. The only HD radiator would be an all aluminum. Griffin is the only brand I know of that makes one.

There's several vendors for one piece all aluminum two core radiators on eBay now. They're selling for roughly $200 shipped.

Im not saying your wrong, but my jeep came with a transmission cooler and hydraulic fan...

Some 4.7s came with a hydraulic instead of a e-fan. If you have a visible trans cooler it's aftermarket. WJs trans coolers are built-in to the radiators.

are you sure your not looking at the power steering cooler? Because I'm pretty sure the trans cooler mounts on the other side of the PS cooler.

I don't think anyone here on JF has yet. I was prepared to be the guinea pig but it turned out my coolant leak was from my lower radiator hose.

No. The non-hydro fan 4.7's have a factory trans cooler option that mounts on the passenger side of the radiator. On the driver's side mounted to the front crossmember is a little single row PS cooler.

When they made the switch to the hydro fans the external trans cooler was no longer an option on the 4.7 as the new fan setup required the use of a larger PS cooler, which is mounted in the same place as the optional trans cooler on the older 4.7's.
