Quick question about wheel width

I'm about to order my 3 inch lift and a set of jegs d window steel wheels (16x8) with 4 inch's of backspacing. I'm going to put the tires I already have on my jeep which are 235/70/16 for a little while until I get new tires. Will it be a problem putting this size tires on that wide of a wheel? And...the maximum width tire that my jeep will see is most likely a 265 so do need a 8 inch wide wheel or just a 7 inch wide? I've tried searching the whole wheel width pros and cons but couldn't find anything for some reason.

7 inch would work well. Check out the Specs section on Tirerack tire reviews. They will list both a range for wheel widths, as a well as the width of the tire.

Thank you, I found all the information I needed on Tirerack. It looks like I can use either width wheel for my stock tires and my next set of tires.
