Performance Chip

Was looking at performance chips and I saw one that I particularly liked. It's made for Grand Cherokee WJ and is called GForce Performance Chips. Is this worth getting?

GForce chips and all others are just a plastic box with 2 wires and a resistor. DO NOT buy cheap CPU/"performance"/"upgrade" chips! They all lie about MPG and HP anyway, most of the time they lie so bad, the real products don't even go that high. If you ever doubt yourself again, try google search, or hell, even these forums if its jeep specific, google is where I found the facts about this when thinking "wow $30 for a performance chip!?".

Go with superchips flashpaq, it's the most used and recommended here from what I've seen.

Wj performance chip

I just bought one from ebay for 8 or 9 dollars, it came in mail like he said 2 wires and a resistor, it came w/paper showing how to install into your iat sensor. im afraid to use it because im thinking if it leans out my engine fpr performance and gas mileage that it may harm my engine over time. now I cant find it on ebay to ask questions, so no big loss, but id never pay what they ask for other ones, its up to you.LOL PS I MADE A MISTAKE AND ENTERED XJ WHEN IT SHOULD BE WJ HOW CAN I FIX THAT.

"super chips" is a company name, they make a handheld type programmer that plugs in to the car computer under the dash and allows you to modify various things about how the car was programmed. Any car that is manufactured after use of OBD does not have a "chip" you can change out anymore

I got the superchips Jeep FlashPAQ...on my stock 4.7L non-HO, the 91 octane tune made a difference...my commute is fun now but it eats more gas.

ZJ - 5.9 Limited
WJ - '04 4.7 Laredo
WJ - '04 4.7 H.O. Freedom
WJ - '04 Overland

100% of performance chips on ebay are scams. All they do is plug into the IAT sensor to trick the engine into thinking it is cold out to advance the timing and wreck your car.

2003 WJ in Jeep Green Metallic, 4.0/242/4.10's. 4" Teraflex springs w/ RE monotube shocks and IRO short arms, cheap intake w/ amsoil filter, 2.5" hi flow cat and back exhaust, lots of lights and other misc crap.

If anyone wants a Superchips programmer, send me a PM or email me at kolak@aol.com - I'll have them on special for the entire month of January.

Its not off ebay. I found it on Gforce. They are having a huge new year sale where their chip was marked at 300 down to 70.

Gforce is still just a resistor with two wires, only in a neat looking package. However, the costs of "chips" like that one are usually not so great that people lose much money buying one. As indicated in other posts, there are no "chips" that produce useful results for our WJs, only reprogrammers like the Superchips device.

Sounds good! I actually can't stand the thought of a resistor. Especially for the fan blower. Lack of Engineering.
