P0601

Hi All. I searched and found some help but not a direct answer. My 04, 4.0L Grand Cherokee threw a check engine light yesterday afternoon (but drove fine - no loss of power, surging etc..). I pulled the code and got P0601. After searching I know what it means. This morning I pulled the positive battery terminal and let it sit for a few minutes. When I started it up the light was off and the code was cleared.

My question is, given that P0601 seems to indicate a PCM failure should I still take it in to the dealership (under warranty) or should I wait and see if the light reappears? Can they even detect anything if the code is gone?
Thanks.

They should be able to detect the code even if you pulled the battery. The code is stored until you drive a certain ammount of miles, at least that is what i have been told. If it is still under warranty, you should definatly take it in.

Thanks. I know a loose (or incorrectly screwed on) gas cap or the sort can throw the check engine light. Would something along those lines also throw the P0601 code? Or is it pretty much guaranteed that I have something wrong with the PCM? As you can tell I'm trying to avoid losing my car while its at the dealership if its at all possible.
