Wj NV247 Transfer case fluid change

Hi guys

I have read a lot of posts about the correct fluid for the NV247 transfer case, here over the pond we cant get the Mopar fluid anymore from Jeep dealers, I went to the main dealer this morning and the fluid that they use now is Tutela Transmission Power Gear 4.

The fluid was £10 per litre which I was pretty pleased with, I have just changed the fluid in the transfer case so i will keep you posted.

Andy

Although Any fluid will "work", I've only heard of Mobil 424 working in the 247 without causing premature wear or total failure.

That is the correct Jeep Europe approved fluid. As stated Mobil 424 tractor fluid will also work........there is reasonable evidence through postings on here to suggest that Mopar 247 fluid IS actually Mobil 424. The other main dealer approved fluid is another Petronas fluid called Petronas Arbor......although this does not seem to be available anymore. This is what I use as the Tutela fluid was not an approved fluid at the time. Been in about 30,000 plus now (yes due for another change.....I have enough left from last time as I bought 5 litres!) no problems so far!!

I've contemplated using Kubota SUDT-2 Hydraulic Transmission fluid in my 247 since I have that on hand for the tractor. Tractor has wet brakes...not sure why it wouldn't work.

For ****s and giggles Ill change it with the udt fluid this weekend and see how it does. If my 247 blows up at least I can justify to the wife a 242hd swap....assuming no one tells her it fails cause I used tractor fluid for s&gs
