So I just dropped $800 into the WJ and had a conversation with my mechanic who's a good honest dude. Basically he says my Jeep is in good shape but he agrees with my thought process that if I was ever gonna sell it, nows the time. It's 10 years old this year and at 88,000miles it's still an attractive vehicle for someone. Once I cross that 10yr 100,000mile mark the value is gonna start to plummet.

I've done a decent job of maintaining it but I can't speak for the 59k miles before I owned it. I live in the NE so there is some minor rust to be expected(brake line just went) but nothing that would scare me or a prospective buyer off. That being said it is a Jeep, I've owned a ZJ, and things are gonna begin to go on it. I live in the city with no garage or driveway so a lot of this work is gonna have to be hired out. Just considering the pros/cons of unloading it now before I start to face the problems of her acting her age.

KBB gives it a private party value in good condition of $10,261. That's about a grand less than I paid for it 3.5years and 30k miles ago! It's nearly paid off but I'm not wild about picking up a massive new payment. Just wondering what these are going for these days. I know availability and location can make a huge difference in what I'd really get for her. Anyone been keeping an eye on prices or sold one recently?

Treat the rust & hold onto it. Beats a new payment any day. Get your nickle's worth out of it.

Yeah that's the way I'm leaning right now. The rust ain't much. Almost nothing body, suspension or main drive. Pretty much that brake line was the worst. Just know it'll only get worse. The only reason I'm considering selling is cuz the value of it is still so high. I could pretty much get the last 3.5years and 30k miles for a grand if I sold it.

Def not psyched about the hassle of selling, looking for a deal as good as this was, and starting a new higher payment. Plus with my payments almost done it'd free up cash for any repairs that may come up.

Just tempting to have $10k to throw into a newer SUV. Those WK2's are tempting too but for what I'd want I'd be looking at around $30k

I've considered selling mine too but at this point, it has depreciated about to the max (as long as it is still running and not rusting away). It's cheap to maintain & fix now too and if I went looking, I'd never find as good a combo for even $20K.

Also, if something happens to it like I scrape something, it gets dirty or the interior parts crack here and there, I don't panic or worry about it.

I could probably get 3K out of it still around here.... but it's worth at least $8K to me.
