I got pics of mine finished in my build thread. Didn't want to hijack and put them up here.

Since we are on the topic, I am looking at doing a modified version of this tire carrier for a JK. Trying to think of a way to get it to lock though.,,I dunno?

Great hijack for a latch that would mount where...?
I would think you could use a T handle going through the center of the wheel going into the tailgate. How does that swing stay shut in the catalog

No harm meant, I swear ! I just have been eyeing a way to make one with a little different look to it after seeing yours. Ideally I would love it to fold down but one swing arm with a latch and hinge on the same side kind of makes sense to me.

i thought about the fold down cause wanted it to serve as a dirtbike carrier too... but folding down limits access to the trunk so bad, might as well elminate the swing out portion and just fix mount it there.
I really like how the swing arm attaches over the spindle thats sweet! Maybe get a super powerful electro magnet for an ultra clean look ha.

Im thinking ill be putting the tire towards the hinge and leave room on the left for a jerry can and my custom ski and snowboard mount. My opportunity to weld is limited to 2.5hrs once a week and i still have to get my sliders welded up. Most likely this thursday ill have the tire mounted and start working on the sliders.

The only thing I don't like is where the tire is mounted. I would like one where the bottom of the tire sits just above your hitch. That way you could see better out of the rear window.

Get a removeable one that swings down and mounts to the hitch

The bottom of my tire will be a couple inches above the bumper line. You pretty much lose the rearview mirror regardless if you mount a 33"+ tire anywhere on the rear
