It's a Jeep, it's not supposed to work right all the time.

I plan on making a nice and easy step by step to follow. There is really not too much welding required, so maybe a local shop could do that part for you? I think all completed ill have this built for just about 200$

Yeah, the components are all fairly cheap. It's just putting it together.

How far out past the angle did your 2x4 hang? And how far back? I don't wanna mount the 2x4 and then not be show to get my bumper back on

How far past the angle steel did the 2x4 stick out. Like, where you welded the hinge? Was it even overhang on both sides or was one side cut diff? I'm getting a 5' piece, but I want to know how much I'm going to trim off each end

Just a heads up to an earlier question. I got the latch that came with the AtoZ kit and didn't like it so i sold it and made a threaded T handle with a lock washer and it works very well. Again, i'll post pics tomorrow.

To get my bumper cover on I had to round the edges on the bottom of the 2x4. I positioned the hinge by having the inner edge even with the notch under the traillght. The threaded portion of my spindle has just enough room to slide the sleeve over it.

phantom - i welded the straight (bottom bar hidden by bumper cover) 2x4 to the 3/8" thick angle iron
mrj - i believe the center of the bottom bar was 2 1/2" from the flat line under the tail lights, there is little more than an inch on each side of the flat line i was talking about.
