Looks good. What are going to do about the lock handle. Pretty sure its going to hit the bottom of the grill. Doesnt look like yours can be rotated down either.

I was thinking about cutting the top of the bumper and putting a hinge on it, for access to the handle and to be able to see the cable when respooling.

You can see in this pic there is no room for the handle. I was thinking also the plate could go on top of the uniframe and have the ends bend up that way the handle faces down. Put the header on and show a pic.

Ok, so its together but I had to hack up the bumper and grill a lot to get it to work. I'll pick up another bumper and grill sometime and trim a little better but it doesn't look too bad.

Yeah I figured the handle would hit the grill and a Limited bumper cover would be the best for covering the winch and plate.

Also why didnt you relocate the solenoid box so you wouldn't have to cut the top of the bumper. Also flipping the plate to the top of the frame rail would be an option.

I will look into the limited bumper when I go to pick a part. I didn't relocate the box because I'd still have to cut the grill and I was low on time. Xmas and everything.

I dont know if he added sides or not. But if has the sides and back it will probably be stronger than the piece removed. 1/4" plate is way beefier than the sheet metal removed.

I added sides that bolted to the sides of the "frame rail ". I believe laterally its stronger but not sure about twisting. We will see.

gcjeeping (or anyone fitting a hidden winch plate!)

Do you know the distance between the frame rails at the front? It looks to be about 27 - 28 inches just lying on the floor and looking but dont want to take the bumper cover off just to measure and I need accurate numbers.......the reason is Im waiting for the seller of this (below) to come back with dimensions to see if I can "make" it fit. Dont have quite your fab skills...or the time to be honest...but this might be able to be modded! Also I could barely buy the materials for that price!!

Thanks in advance.

This winch plate is awesome. I've been following this tread and since I got a new welding machine I think this will be on my things to do list. Looks good man. Now you need to get stuck and see how she works. Lol

This is the measurement from inside to inside(piece I cut out)(28 1/2")

This is the measurement across the bottom and how wide you would want the plate to be able to use all the holes on the bottom(36").

This is how deep the piece was I cut off (2 1/2"). Also the the radiator sits about 1 1/2" deeper than the back cut off piece

Wow...thanks alot mate....all the info I needed and more. I did not expect you to traipse out into the snow and measure for me it but its much appreciated. (we have not had snow here for nearly 3 years) I will keep this thread informed if I find one that fits.....or near enough that it can be made to!!! Cant wait to see to see the ones on here finished. You have skills! I have a welder and will weld most things up but when it comes to things requiring the sort of strength that a winch plate will I dont think I could trust my limited ability to be sure it would not break! Thanks again Sir!
