My WJ half door Pics

I got a lot of requests for more pics and info on my Half Doors.

I cut out the pieces with a jug saw which made quick work of it. I then welded in some 10 gauge sheet metal. Used some late Cherokee interior door handles. Just had to make new connecting rods for the locks to handles. All the electric door locks work like normal. I added some Polk 100w marine speakers to all 4 doors. Removed the door hinge pins and replaced them with wire lock pins. Can swap all 4 doors in about 10 minuets. Power heated mirrors work also. I like'em. If you have any questions or want more info let me know.

Who said it was my front yard? Because its there. I like working on grass. Because the wife was getting ready to leave and her car was in the garage. Pick one. LOL

Any problems with alignment putting the doors back on?

Two of the half doors I had to adjust a couple times to get right. The stock ones fit perfect since the hinges are the original ones in the original spots. The two half doors the were slightly off I had to realign a couple times by loosening the four nuts on the door and moving them slightly. But all fit perfect now. Since I pull the hinge pins to swap them I dont have to align them each time.

man, that looks sweet! Good fab work! I might have to steal that idea from you. ha

wow...I clicked on this link thinking that it was going to look like crap, and actually, it looks really good. I wish I had an extra set of WJ doors to play with...... :D

 wow, I never thought that would have been possible, but now I'm adding that to the list of things to do. :D curious question how much did all the work cost you?

zippome 11-21-2009 06:38 PM

$100 for the doors, $25 for the sheet metal, $12 for door handles $25 or so in misc wire pins and screws , probably $15 in paint and then a spool of welding wire that I already had. also I already had the bondo and primer.

I gotta say this is one of the better physical mods I like and I bet those things come in handy. If i can find the doors I might attempt to do that. Here in my area wjs are a rare thing. Where did you find that hood at?

CLNinja 11-21-2009 07:02 PM

my only question is...

why would you need half doors for the rear?

Because I think it looks better if both front and rear are half doors. Thats just me though......... and I guess thats what counts.:D Or maybe its to loose people I dont like on the trail.
