Garage
Is your throttle cable binding somewhere? Is the throttle arm on the intake manifold hitting anything? Is there an empty coke bottle under the gas pedal?

Possible blocked cats/exhaust.

Previous Jeeps: 84 CJ7 (A True Jeep), 2000 XJ (163,000 Miles/Totaled (Pictures of wrecked Jeep in gallery)), 2004 WJ (parting out die to major electrical issues)

If you don't have time to do it right the first time, how do you have time to do it over.

So did you change anything, or just go out to start it and it wouldn't rev past 3k?
Also check your air intake tract. Make sure nothing is blocking that in any way...... does it smoke or chug when you try to rev it.

Good catch, forgot about intake. My parents years ago had mice fill the air cleaner with dry dog food and when they would accelerate it would block the air flow creating the same problem as OP.

What about fuel pressure. Have you changed the fuel filter? Might want to have the garage check the pressure with it running,

Here is a thread from the cherokee forum you might want to read. Last post fixes it.

I will ask my mechanic to have a look at this but i am getting loads of pressure from the rear of the exhaust , if i put a rag over the end it will push my hand away , i will however check this out , many thanks again , i will have to have the car recovered however as it will only do around 8 mph now !!

Thanks and i will most definately have the pressure checked tommorow and i will keep in touch , is this the most strange thing to happen , no codes and performance steadily getting worse , here is hoping it is an easy fix , surely it must be mechanical with no codes or no dash lights showing ? thanks again all here is hoping
