actually i bought a outerwears water repallant prefilter that is custom fit to the snorkel head, and it looks even more ridiculous because its lime green but it does a very good job. and to top it all off there is now a led light that lighs up the lime green cover! its ugly but i think it looks cool!

i went trhough the cab because i wheel in very heavy woods, a 400 dollar safari snorkel would get torn up or ripped off the side of my jeep if i brought it to my trails, and yes that is a 3 inch strainer works great though!

it looks absolutely ridiculous

it creates much more noise in the cab i bet..

you cant see your passenger side mirror

your airflow is terrible now since you used a mile of dryer ducting which has ridges and bumps and tons of bends

it looks absolutely ridiculous

what keeps rain out of that top piece? why didnt you go with a Hummer style intake cap to keep rain out...its also very low profile

It looks really goofy but if its just a trail only rig then I guess it would be okay, Wouldnt even think about putting it on a daily driver though.

i can see out of my mirror just fine, and the passenger can see out really good to. the only thing it blocks is the passenger side vent. airflow is actually a lot better than it looks. ive actually got a mpg increase on the highway but no decrease if im crawling in 4 lo. the noise in the cab really isnt bad at all, the roll bar wrap i put over the hose does a good job of blocking out most of the noise. and if you look at rv sewer line, well the kind i used, the inside has a liner that is free from ribs so that nothing gets clogged in there around bends. i tried one of those hummer snrokel tops and i did notice a decrease in power so the larger head makes up for amount of bends in the tube. this is my every day driver, even with the larger tires i have my mpg stays around 18-19 city, and almost 27 on the highway punched in forth gear. that is forth gear in the manual ax-15 tranny that i put in as well. yes it looks ridiculous, but i dont go four wheelin for looks, for me its all about how capable the jeep was built.

That engine looks pretty clean for a hardcore 'wheeler that necessitates a roof mounted air intake. Your post ride maintenance skills are superhuman.

hey i work at a xpress lube/ carwash in a very small town. i have a lot of time to work on my jeep and keep it clean, besides i was taking picures, might as well make it easy to see what i did to it. and sorry about my posting skills im new at this so give me break! and actually ive used the snorkel many times, through running and stagnent water and it works great. i had to remove my carpet and line-x the interior, it started to stink after the first time i really tested it. that is also a new motor and 5 speed tranny, that i dropped in because i never thought i needed a snorkel untill i hydrolocked my engine at a creek crossing. so no that ugly jumble of sewer fittings isnt just for show. and that motor hasnt been in there very long so thats why it doesnt look dirty!
