My derp moment for the week.

Put my OME HDs and Bilsteins on Saturday. When I had it all installed and setting on the floor, I slid under (cool, I can slide under without having to jack her up), loosened all the control arm and sway bar bolts, then tightened everything to spec.
Took her out for a spin,
about 1/2 mile from the house I heard some thumps,
about 3/4 mile from the house I hit some rough pavement about 45mph and got some wobble,
and *then*,
I tightened the lug nuts to spec.
Derp De Derp.

Did that on the mustang ages ago...
Fortunately, I think it's one of those things that you only do once in a life time.

Yup, I know I can't post pics until I get 50 posts.
By then I'll have my tires on and can post a couple before and afters.

Done this myself, figured it out when I had a pretty bad shaking going 70 mph on the beltway. Thankfully had all my tools and tightened everything up to spec on the side of the highway.

This site is wayyyy more expensive than any other car site I'm on, just to give you the same rights you can get anywhere else for free (searching and PM storage). I used to be a paid member, can't justify it anymore.

Yes, you only tend to do these things once. The wheel nuts and trailer hitching. Don't do them properly and once they come off, you'll never be slack with it again.

And yeah, it's your thread.

Post. Away.

lol how right you are. I've also screwed up trailer hitching somehow. I'm pretty sure the ball clasp on the wave runner trailer was closed, but when I tried to drive the ski up onto the trailer, the hitch came off and went sky high before slamming back onto the hitch ball. Not sure how I didn't damage the truck or lose the trailer in the water.
