loose new hub and caliper mess w/pics

Changed all the hubs calipers and rotors and needing a new boot up front so as suggested having everything off changed the drive axles.
Put everything back together and took a long drive. After about an hour, every bump I hit it felt like something in the center front of the car was bouncing up and down quickly and slowly was getting worse. Never thought or considered it might have only happened when I was stepping on the brake or not and not sure. After about 2 hours started to hear clanging noises up front getting louder. Had to pay a toll and when I hit the brakes it felt like the tire was going to fall off. It was very scary. The caliper looked like it was cutting a path into the wheel rim. Pulled it over and called the tow truck. Had a flat bed so we had to move the car to get it on so put in neutral did not use the brakes and pushed the car into position to be put on flatbed. no noise from the wheel but we were not hitting any bumps either. Went right up.

Got it home and took the tire off. First thought was maybe something is loose and did not torque enough when tightening the bolts for the calipers or the brakes.

Not touching anything after the wheel is off, The rotor can be moved about a 1/4 inch in and out on the front side opposite the calipers. Is that normal? Also realized when taking the tire off, did not really have to struggle to get it off with the breaker bar as is the norm. Could the guy doing the new inspection for the sticker last night (yes, that is correct) not tighten the tire enough? Could the drive axle move around and cause anything? The caliper seems tight on the rotor but I can grab it and move the whole thing like I said in and out a little bit. Should that be happening?

One more thing, when I watched a video on replacing that center nut that holds the hub, the guy said to put it into 4 wheel drive and someone hold the brake. I did not put it into 4 wheel drive when tightening that bolt. Here are some pics. Any help or suggestions appreciated.

The torque needs to be 100- 115 ft pounds, under 100 could make it fall off, over could worp your rotors. Check your other wheels for how much torque they have. I would call the shop that did the inspection, there at a lot of dumb asses out there that pass as inspectors.

Nice replay....I like the Umm I deserved it. Anyway, ok if that's the case then if the wheel is not tight enough, although It did not come off real easy but easier then in the past, what would have cause the wheel to feel like it was falling off when applying the brakes? Did not tighten the hub on the back side enough?

Good point also because the guy doing the inspection seemed like not so bright and he was doing a couple things at one time. Thank you.

So if loose, would that cause all that clanging underneath? Thanks for the help.

Put that side of the axle on a jack or jack stand, with the tire and wheel bolted to the hub and off the ground, put hand at top and bottom and try to rock it back and forth. If It's nice and tight then the wheel was loose, if not and you have movement try to look at the hub and ball joints.

Also look at where the studs go through the wheel, is there any metal shavings or wear marks on the wheels.

Did as you said after I re-tightened the wheel to torque spec and nice and tight. Everything seems ok. I'm going to get my gun now........just kidding but can you believe it!! Thank you for all the help.
