Liftgate glass

Probably a stupid question but I've had my wj since december, and I've noticed that if I lock my doors, when I unlock it the Liftgate glass opens, and I have to get out and shut it. Is this normal? It's a pain and I've resorted to not locking my car anymore.

Not normal. Worst case if you cant figure it out is to pull the hatch panel and unplug the switch to stop it opening.

Good luck.

The button above My license plate doesn't work, just found this out. I have no idea what could causing it to open when I unlock the car

If the button above the plate doesn't work it might be latch related. Pull the inside trim panel and see whats happening. Maybe the latch just needs some PB blaster or WD40.

I wonder if there's a short in that wiring such that when the lock is actuated, it's shorting to energize the push button that does not work normally.

To see if they are related hold in the push button to see if the glass still unlatches when you unlock the vehicle. That will tell you if the switch is still in the circuit but the wiring is at issue..... I bet it does not open the glass but it does sound like you're going to make a visit to the insides of the hatch.
