LED bulbs

Has anyone tried LED bulbs in their stock housing's. I found these and want to try them.

Or should I just get silver stars?

Get HIRs. Silverstars are a fairly mild improvement for a steep price increase over standard halogens. I ran Silverstar Ultras for a year or two, and then went to HIR. The difference was amazing, the HIRs were much, much brighter.

As for those LEDs, don't even bother considering LED replacements for headlight bulbs, not only would the focal point of the light be completely wrong, causing light to go everywhere, making for unsafe conditions for oncoming drivers while reducing the effectiveness of your headlights, but also, those lights have less than half the luminous output of a standard stock bulb (it'd almost be like using those free flashlights from harbor freight instead of headlights!)

Thanks for the input. I didn't even think of or know of HIRs. Can you suggest a brand?

My thread regarding the bulbs
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f310/...012-a-1332345/

They are a nice improvement at a great price. I've since moved on to retrofitted hid's but the HIR's were great while I had them.

Thanks for the thread. That helps alot more than the Amazon reviews.

X2 on the HIRs I just ditched my HIDs about 3 months ago and I'm very happy with the HIRs now. The trimming is easy just have some patience.

Or you can go with HID bulbs. I've had the silverstars also and they weren't much better than normal lights. 4500K bulbs are a huge approvement over the anything halogen. My 8000K are a little too blue for my liking but they light up the road like nothing else I've had.

From what i hear the hid bulbs in stock housing's are dangerous for oncoming traffic.

Tis true. While they may put out a bit of light, the pattern is gonna be all over the place. If you are looking to do HIDs, do it right with a proper HID projector set up.

Think I'll stick with the HIRs for now.

This is just my experience but my light pattern barely changed when I threw in the HIDs. The actual plastic on the exterior is really scratched which throws light everywhere on its own, which is my only problem.
