Just have a question

'00 larado 4.0 select-a-trac

Long story short the fan was replaced but done incorrectly so it'll work for along time then won't I've had her almost a year in june I was taken a friend to Atlanta and back about 100 miles I stopped at the advance auto to pick up something from a friend I started the jeep looked down and my temp gauge was a hair below 260! I didn't get the check gauges light and my question is shouldn't the light come on and dinged to let me know she was overheating
