like title says i just went to get a smog test and it failed the visual. passes the actual smog but the guy said the cat is not a CA cat. i told him it has been on there since i bought it but it was a no go.

anyone have any experiance getting it to pass in CA. im located in san jose(campbell) and also los Angerles(westwood) does anyone know a shop that will pass without the visual?

If you call Tom Fox over at General Muffler he should be able to refer you to someone. They're located in Orange. That shop is owned by Mike Leach who manufactured headers for Mopar Performance. Tom runs the shop and is a great guy - be sure to tell him I sent you. The number there is 714 628-8798.

Government regulations and intrusion at its worst. It passes smog but not the way it looks.

If I was government then I guess I could ban Toyotas cause I can't stand the sight of one!

Remember, kids... prostitution is legal as long as you film it and sell it for money!

Go to inglewood. Century blvd, arbor vitae, manchester etc.

I cant tell you a specific shop but most will ignore it. worst case, slip them a 20 to ignore it.

Just asked a guy at a body shop my friend has his car at if he knew anyone. He said his brother has a shop and he will ask him. His brother said that that they have been cracking down and of I asked a few months ago no problem but now its tough. Will call the guy in Orange tomorrow and see what he says.

Might go to one of the no pass no pay shops cause I don't wanna keep paying if they dont pass me.

I went to the parts store to have them read a check engine light. Apparently in california you have to have a mechanics certificate in california to read the code. What a scam this state is.

Or just do the on off on off on key trick and read the codes yourself, for free.

OBD2 bluetooth adapter on ebay for $20, then use the 'Torque' app on your phone. You can read engine vitals, see codes, and clear them.
