Just bought a WJ with engine managment light on

Hi all
After some great advice on here I've put a deposit on a really nice 4.7 limited 2001, 61k, interior mint, parking sensors and infinity gold. Just needs bumpers spraying really.
Anyway she has the engine management light on. She drives really well so I had no problem buying as it was only £2700 (I'm in london) any ideas what this could be? Lambada maybe?
Any advice appreciated
Thanks Gary

I assume that means the check engine light. Hopefully it's only something minor, but you need to have it scanned for codes.

first thing that pops in my head is gas cap. make sure thats secure. some vehicles shine the CEL for a loose gas cap.

head to autozone or something and have them pull some codes.

Turn the key to the "on" not "ignition" and do the following:

On,off,on,off,on,off. (3 times on and off). Then your odometer should read "done" and show your current codes. Post what you see here

Pinky is close.

on, off, on, off, on. Odometer will read codes (if any) then DONE. Have a pen handy to write down any codes.

Why don't you just buy a code reader. You'll need it, no question about that.

...the jeep has a built in code reader. Why would you need to buy one?
