Wj Just bought my 3rd Jeep! 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee!

I want to do a full tune up on it...all the basic stuff (plugs, royal purple oil changes, fuel filter/regulator, air filter). Is there a PCV valve on the 2004 models? if so can someone paste a link so I can order one.

Any other suggestions to make it run better and get better mileage?

Wellllll, give us some specs. 2004 was the best year for WJs. Do you have the 4.7 or the 4.0? What kind of 4wd does it have, quadra-trac or quadra-drive... unless you got the extremely rare-optioned 4.7 Limited with selec-trac....

you should clean the throttle body, I always like to take it off with the sensors and everything and go through it piece by piece and clean it by hand really well with carb cleaner, especially the IAC and the IAC housing. reinstall with a new gasket.

Also I believe there is a PCV valve on the i6 models, dont quote me on it though. I really dont know enough on the 4.7 to give advice but I do have a FSM if you need anything looked up. Just gimme a shout

PCV on the 4.7 is over by the Oil Filler Tube. You can pick one up for around 6.00. If it's the 4.7 stick with the stock Champion plugs. The 4.7 doesn't need anything fancy as far as plugs are concerned unless it's a 4.7 HO. Then like mentioned above I'd fully clean the throttle body. I think the fuel filter is part of the fuel pump so that's one less thing to worry about.

When I bought my 04 with the 4.7 I was amazed at how well it ran with 62K on it. Then I did a complete tune up and it was even better! I've been running full synthetic oil and Mobil1 oil filters as well.

If it's a distributorless 4.0L then you'd want to run double platinum's. My 4.0L in my 05 Wrangler came with NGK copper core plugs, but I've had much better results with Champion 7034 Double Platinums.

sorry it took a while. The specs: 4.0L, 4x4, quadra drive, 86,000 miles.

After some research I did find out that the fuel filter/regulator is no in the gas tank, it's on the frame above the rear axle, driver side. I may replace that also.

I've noticed that I've gone through a half tank of gas already. I bought it monday night (11/8/10 and it's now thursday and i need gas already. I think i should stay with the oem champion copper plugs as recommened on the teamgrandcherokee.com site as well as other oem replacement parts.

In the end, i'd like it to run ni tip-top shape and get better gas mileage, i don't drive with a lead foot either so that helps.

lol well it is a Jeep haha. Fuel filter/regulator has been known to give 2mpg in some cases so definately check that out. Champion copper plugs are what it likes so yeah definately check those out. Half a tank every four days sounds normal for me lol but I drive heavy.

If you're going to stick with copper core plugs go with Champion Truck Plugs 4412, but good luck finding them. Everyone on the TJ forums highly recommends running Champion 7034 double platinum plugs on a distributorless 4.0L straight six. You will get a much cleaner spark and longer life out of the plugs.
