Question Jeep n00b seeks aftermarket part advice

Hey Guys,

My girlfriend has a 1999 JGC Laredo V8 and recently she has been complaining about:

1) the brightness of the headlights
2) an unsafe feeling regarding the suspension

Basically, her lights are dim as hell and she needs something else. I've looked into getting HIDs for her but they are about $500+ for ones with a good warranty. Other people have said to get driving lights, but I'm not sure I want extra lights on the outside of the car.

Secondly, she says that she doesn't feel safe when going around corners at speed because she thinks it's going to flip over. I think it's fine, but she's the one that has to drive it every day. Can you guys recommend some sport springs or something? This suspension has about 55,000 miles on it so things might be getting a little soft. I know for my Audi, it's recommended to buy new springs and shocks at the same time, not just new springs.

What do you guys recommend?

Thanks,

Steve Trac

The right driving lights make a differance...believe me.. I bought a set of so-so lights from az for $30.00 and put 100 watt bulbs and up graded the wiring and the lights are now brighter then the headlights with aftermarket sim. hid head lights(simed 100/150watts).
As for the sup. I would suggest a set of edlebrook shocks with the special system to prevent roll. Also I would suggest to tell her she is not driving a sports car, its a jeep and to take the corners a little slower

1. Buy the upgrade light bulbs from autozone or wherever.

2. Get some stiffer shocks. My original shocks were toast after 40K. So hers might be also.

For stability, replace the stock anti-sway bars with Addco (front and rear). Add grease fittings to the mounting brackets/bushings.

Addco bars can be had at a good price from kolak@aol.com. He's a popular parts supplier on the web.

As other suggested, shocks may be in order. After 50,000 miles, the stock ones may be ready for replacement. Getting stock replacement shocks from the dealer is pricey. Look for other mfgs.

Just a thought.
