installing infinity reference 3023cf speakers, but I have questions

Hi Guys,

I just purchased these infinity reference 3032cf speakers after reading several threads on here about how great they sound and so on.

I realize there is a bit of cutting involved, ok that is fine. After reading more about these speakers with an impedance of 2 ohms, I am concerned about the infinity gold system in my 02 overland that is 4 ohms.

Should I return these for another set of speakers that are 4 ohms, place a resistor before the speaker to increase the impedance, or just go with the speakers as is?

I know the amp can run warmer with a lower impedance speaker. What other concerns should I have?

I am really looking forward to some tech help with this decision making process. Thank

edit: I placed the wrong model number on the title: I have 3032cf

Thank you for the input. I based my info on the website wjjeeps, which states that these systems are 4 ohms.

I installed some Reference Series speakers in the front and rear doors of my wife's WJ a couple months ago, and they sound great. I too was concerned about the conflicting info on the impedance (WJJeeps vs. JeepForum), but haven't had any issues with them. Installation was really straight forward and the adapter rings meant I didn't have to cut up or drill new holes into the door panels.

I made sure to get two way speakers for front and rear, but Amazon goofed and shipped me three ways for the front door, which took away a lot of the 'depth' the front speakers provided.

True Four Ohm Impedance technology: speaker's 2-ohm impedance combines with speaker wire impedance for a 4-ohm load

just noticed this on the crutchfield site. Thank you Merc. I did get the email as well.

Just reading the impedance on the speaker is what concerned me. I did not realize the accounted for the speaker wire impedance. No concerns now.

Gotcha, let me know if you have any questions or you want to see a pic of my installation.

Following up on this..what did the OP do to help with sound?

I had to do the same with making the oem hole a little bigger. After installing these up front, they are very quiet. Install an amplifier?

I think my issue is I bought the wrong Ohm speakers. Mine are 2 Ohm and the stock are 4 Ohm. I'm just going to return them and buy 4 Ohm. That's easier than wiring up another amp. Thanks!

did you read this entire thread? the 2 vs 4 ohm issue is addressed in the thread. I am unaware of a 4 ohm version.
