HVAC box question

Long story short, my heater core leaks and it needs to be replaced. I am planning on just doing the heater core and nothing else. My question is, do I have to disconnect any A/C lines to JUST remove the heater core? I watched the videos on the dash removal but none of them are clear on that. Am I able to pull the HVAC box back a little to slip the heater core out?

Is it broken?
