Not nearly enough.. the way I look at it I could be dropping $800 or more a month on a car payment for a new vehicle (been there done that more than once) and still have to mod this and that and sink money into it to get it how "I" want it..or take that money and build the vehicle you want. I plan to keep the Jeep for at least 10 years so by time I am ready to move on to a replacement the Jeep will owe me nothing and anything I do spend on it over the course of 10yrs will not have been nearly enough.

I keep a spreadsheet as well. I've owned it for just 9 months now, and it's all been maintenance, aside from tow hooks and TC skid. To date I've spent $1,149.

I highly suggest using Google Drive to keep track. I write down projects that that I find during work like:
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f310/...nsole-1360893/
Then I can come back to it later while while sitting on the car, with my phone next to me.

I don't think of all things as mods, makes it easier to justify my purchases. The last tires had 48k miles on them, and the original shocks had 96k miles. so, time to replace tires and shocks. Is that a mod? Maintenance cost? I call it maintenance since it was 'necessary'. Did I need to get larger AT tires and Bilstein 5100s? I figure the cost difference over stock was minimal. So if you look at it that way, I spent less than $150 for a 2"BB and Moog trail boss SS.

Screw it, in the end it all costs money. I've only had my WJ for about 12k miles. I dropped maybe $2k on it for repairs / mods. Besides items above, changed TC and F/R diff fluids, plugs, tweeters, PCV & TPS. Need to address brakes soon. Still cheaper than a car payment.

$2600 on a 2000 WJ.

$550 on tires.
$700 on fuel pump.
A couple hundred on other small items: vacuum canister, plugs, 3 oil changes, air filter, a half dozen cans of Seafoam.

Still needs CV axle, fuel injector/fuel rail, and eventually, a new engine. Also has no front drive shaft so I'm assuming the transfer box is blown.
