How much have you spent?

In total, how much have you spent on your Jeep and mods total?

Did you "Just Empty Every Pocket" ?

Just curious

I've kept a spreadsheet on all my cars for the last 4 years so I can track expenses. It helped me identify a money-pit BMW and helped get me into a WJ as a daily driver.

Jeep was $11,500 in August 2010. Bought from a dealer so I could work out financing more easily on the forementioned BMW that I was upside-down on.

Since then...
Repairs $1,314.34
Maintenance: $1,888.13
Mods: $2,729.95
Fuel: $4,883.40 (although my records on fuel are only about 90% complete)

Seems like a lot when it's all added up, but it works out to almost exactly $100/mo in operating costs and $85/mo in upgrades. Pretty damn decent for any used car IMO.

Scary to think that I spent $5k on fuel though.

Jeep - $1600
Fuel - Dont care
Repairs - Eh, $2-2,500?
Mods - Around $1,000 or so.

Still cheaper than a new Wrangler/Grand Cherokee. Ive been eyeing this D30 Quadradrive axle I found on craigslist this morning for $275. Then I can finally get that Quadradrive badge for my liftgate! Hmmm.... Honestly id be spending more time (time on here too) if I wasnt busy with wedding crap as of late, not to mention my soon to be wife will be watching what im spending on the Jeep.

There is absolutely no way I want to know. More importantly I don't want her to know!

2002 Laredo loaded w/everything except heated memory seats - $2600
Heater core - $50 and about a day of work. (Local shop wanted around $800 for the fix)
Stereo system - $200 so far and I already had most of the components
Just ordered IRO 3" and tires - ~$1300 ( only went about $500 over budget on this one, lol)
Painted cladding - $35

Still need to get the a/c recharged after replacing the heater core and I have some bearing noise (I hope that's all it is) in the rear end to be repaired.

Future -
Kolak exhaust
LED bulbs inside and out
Finish wiring in stereo and comms (CB and Ham)
Replace/repair headlights
Tint
Roof cross bars and rack
Brush guard

18k on the jeep in 06
7-8k between 3 different lift kits, current wheels & tires and others mods

Fuel....I don't track my food bill so why keep track of hers....plus I'd rather not know

Hard to believe that 7 yrs and over 26k not including basic maintenance and I would be lucky to get 10k out of it

This. I have the original window sticker for my 02, $56,9XX. I figure it's worth about $6k in this market and it's in above average condition, so it dropped about $50k in 10 yrs. I just sold my WRX, same year, same condition with 315k miles on it (jeep only has 90k) for $7k... window sticker was $36k in 02.

And I track everyone's food bill around here, but that's yet another spreadsheet!

Vehicles depreciate badly anyway, but any "mods" you do realize it is for your enjoyment while you own the vehicle as you won't likely get much if any of it back.

I have spent way too much on mine as well, very few mods to speak of but I bought on impulse, paid too much than if I had shopped harder, then spent quite a bit in repairs as it wasn't what it was supposed to be when I bought it. I think I've got about 13k in my 04 Laredo all told.

I hope to run it to 200k without any "major" repairs, there will be some mods but not anything high $$$ as it's ultimately just play money on my DD.
