Wj hey guys new guy with a wj cherokee

i just bought a 2000 grand cherokee limited 4.7 and there are a few things i have to fix on it to get it running properly. it has 160k miles the engine and tranny seem to be running pretty good but the down side is the struts are cracked in the rear and when driven the body wobbles very bad. I came here hoping to get good advice and tips. In he meantime i will be reading posts for what coil springs, struts would be a good heavy duty replacememnt with a little bit of a raise such as 1.5 inches because i will be looking to put beefier tires on it. thanks.

For coil springs fat bobs garage has a 2.5in lift that is bds for right at 300 with their hydro shocks and I believe the coils are the same as rustys from what I have read and you can add bilstein shocks for a little more $ and I hear those shocks are really good.

Last night i ordered The 3 inch lift kit From iro. Ive read some decent reviews and The price was spot on. Hopefully this should fix the suspension issues. The only thing I forgot to order was a steering stabilizer.

While you have the rear end disassembled, you may want to replace the Upper Control Arm (A-Arm/Bushings), and the differential Ball Joint. This is a common repair on WJs. You mentioned the rear end wobble. That could be indicative of A-Arm issues. It's just a matter of time before it goes bad, if it already hasn't.

Do a search for A-Arm. Lots of threads on this repair.

Yea I took your advice and went the extra mile since the rear will be opened up might aswell do it right the fist time around. Thanks for your help. After the suspension is together I will be putting 275-70r16's and will be looking for a cheap or used grill and light protector
