Help w/ 99 grand cherokee

I own a TJ, but a friend of mine is having problems w/ his 99 GC. It's 4x4, 4.7 V-8 and has 160K miles on it. The problem he is having is it dies on him intermittantly. What happens is the motor just shuts off, he has to wait about 30min before he can start it up again, he drove it over to a mechanic who kept it for 4 days but it didn't do it to him and he didn't find anything wrong. Then it happened to my friend again, he would wait about 30 min then go again, but this time it died a few minutes later, wait about 30 min, then he made it to the mechanic who had it for another 2 days and this time it shut off on him, it gave him a code-crank position sensor- which he replaced. But that didn't cure the problem. It died on my buddy later that same day after he picked it up. Anyone have this happen to them? Could it be a fuel filter/fuel pump problem? That's what I'm thinking since it is intermittant, but I wanted to check w/ some guys who actually drive and know more about these vehicles.

I had the same thing happen on a completely different vehicle.
In that case it was the wiring to the cranckshaft position sensor that was partially frayed.

I had something happen that was similar, but did not pull codes. It was a loose battery terminal. It was built up corrosion. It was acting all crazy when it did it though, like gauges pegging and stuff like that, but also just dying whil driving it.

I have the same exact jeep!
