i have an 04 jeep wj, the other day my shifter be very stiff on the trigger to take it out of park the rest of the gears work fine with the trigger but if I unplug the shifter from the wiring harness its normal but I can **** with out applying the brake now I replace the parking switch last night and even after that it pop the #23 fuse instantly and I have no tail lights I also replace my tail light housing I have the jeep ripped apart next thing to pull is the dash board anyone have an idea or had this problem????
I've found it to be helpful when I'm trying to find a short that blows the fuse right away, is to put a light bulb in the place of the fuse. Granted, a bulb will not just push in, but if you wire it in temporally, you can watch the brightness of the bulb. When the bulb goes out, you've found the short. I've actually ran long wires to where I'm working and have the bulb near me so I can watch it as I wiggle, tug, and a number of other things to find the problem.
