Fueling problems?

I had to take my jeep in for a smog check the other day and while it was in the shop i thought i might as well have them diagnose something for me. A couple days prior it would crank for a loooong time, or multiple times before firing during start-up. I was told it was the fuel pump. I saved myself $500 and swapped the pump myself with a Precision pump from O'Reillys.

It's still having to crank for a long time before it starts, then it has a rough low idle for a few seconds. If I floor it from standing, it literally stumbles for about 2-3 seconds before the wheels move. If I floor it on the freeway at speed, it downshifts, but doesnt really accelerate like it should. The RPMs go up, but the jeep doesn't really go anywhere with a sense of urgency. I swapped the filter about 10k miles ago. Where should I go from here? Is it starving for fuel, or is there something else i am missing?? its a 2002 limited w/ 4.7

Have you checked the fuel pressure at the rail or at the pump? Any codes?

No codes, I have not checked the pressure. Is there a specific tool, or point where I should check? Thanks.

Fuel filter? TPS? IAC?

-I'm having some low idle issues, so I've ordered a TPS, hopefully that will fix things up for me. I've heard they can cause all kinds of problems. Maybe that's whats causing your troubles?

You'll need a fuel pressure guage - attach it to the schrader valve on the fuel rail while cranking.

The filter is about a year old, i might have to look into the TPS. but would that affect starting??
