front axle swop
does anyone know if i can fit a 1999 grand cherokee 4.0 front axle onto my 1999 grand cherokee 4.7 ?

yes as long as they have the same gears because they are both D30s

4.0L WJs have 3.55 gears in the Difs
4.7L WJs have 3.77 gears in the Difs
so you will need to regear
You will also have to see what front driveshaft there is, there is a rezzapa style and a U Joint style. The Yoke coupler might be different.

This is not correct. 4.0s without the tow or tow ready package had 3.55s. if it had the tow or tow ready package it had 3.73s. All 4.7s have 3.73s

He is right about the yoke though. However, its an easy enough swap from your axle to the new axle if need be.

Ill be doing the same swap soon so let me know how it goes.
