front axle not fully engaging?

Hello, so when in 4wd if the tires spin there is this grinding noise, similar to a locker clicking. I replaced the t-case as it was shot, the noise is still there but not as loud. So that leads me to the front axle. A friend of mine said it could be that the shift fork is worn out, or possibly a vacuum leak which is causing it to engage and disengage. Or there could be a problem with my front diff. Where should I start if its the shift fork thats worn out?

What 4 wheel drive system do you have, is it quadra drive, quadra trac 2, or select trac?
