Free fix of transfer case rear seal if its not old and leaks

I had my seal at the tail of the transfer case (drive shaft) replaced by the dealer and it still leaked a bit, just 1 drop after driving.

But I thought it should not leak at all.

So I pulled the driveshaft ( super simple ) and noticed the yoke was not perfectly smooth, had a bit of dirt and very minor pitting ( its 9 years old in the rust belt )

So I cleaned up the yoke with some very fine 2000 grit wet sand paper and cleaned the lips of the seal with a clean rag.

Greased the splines, and light grease on the outside of the yoke. Reinstalled and wiped clean any grease the seal may have caught on installation.

Ran a 400 mime trip, and zero leaks, seal totally dry.

I suspect the slight pitting of the yoke was causing fluid to slightly leak.

All the dear did was pull the shaft and change the seal, did not check or care at the condition of the slip yoke.
